Nvidia GeForce GTX 295

$500.00 Released January, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Matches or bests the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2. Latest 55nm fabrication process - first for Nvidia. Can play most of the latest games at the highest resolutions with the highest settings.

The Cons:Expensive. The Radeon HD 4870 X2 performs better at higher resolutions - probably due to the slower GDDR3 memory vs. GDDR5. Requires a lot of power.

Introduced in early December 2008 and officially released at CES 2009 in January, the GeForce GTX 295 is Nvidia's latest flagship card - intended to take the performance crown from the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2.

Featuring two GTX 200 series GPUs built with the latest 55nm fabrication process, the GTX 295 will feature two separate PCBs fused together, and connected by internal SLI. The pair will run at 576MHz, and will feature the same number of processing cores as the current GTX 280. With 896MB of GDDR3 per core, the memory subsystem is similar to the GTX 260, sharing the same speed and bus.Requring one 6-pin and another 8-pin PCIe power connectors, the card will draw 289 watts of power at full load. Nvidia recommends a 680w PSU.
