Released February, 2008
The Pros:Great for HTPC. Low power consumption (doesn't require a separate power connection). Pretty good balance between HTPC and gaming use.
The Cons:Fan can be quite loud, especially when in moderate to heavy use. Known issues with the fan dying out as soon as 1.5 years after purchase. Video playback sometimes lags with 1080p media.

With 505 million transistors, it almost doubles the performance of Nvidia's last mainstream midrange card, the 8600GTS. Launched at a suggested price of 200 dollars, the suggested retail price has fallen steeply with mounting competition from the ATI 4850.
