Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT

$150.00 Released April, 2007

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Dual-DVI connections for dual-HD monitor setups. HD support and lower price point make it ideal for HTPCs. Surprising gaming performance with more demanding games (Bioshock, Half Life 2: Episode 2).

The Cons:Somewhat noisy when in high use. Known issue with capacitors blowing. Suggested retail price almost approaches much higher-end 1GB cards (ATI Radeon HD 5770 is available for $150 at most places).

The GeForce 8600 GT is a mid-range model in Nvidia's 8 series of consumer desktop graphics cards. Its specifications should enable it to handle less demanding games and perform adequately on lower settings in more demanding graphics applications released in 2009.
