Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS
$40.00
Released April, 2007
The Pros:Capable of running most games at mid-range settings. Handles application window rendering easily, everything pops up without hezitation. Included documentation is well written and complete.
The Cons:Not powerful enough to run games at high graphics settings. Ships with a driver on CD that will cause serious problems if used - need to download the driver. Fan makes a fair amount of noise.
The 8400 GS is the entry-level model in Nvidia's 8 Series of consumer desktop graphics cards. Less aimed at gaming applications than higher-end 8 Series models, the 8400 GS is a less expensive option that fully supports Windows Vista's graphical enhancements while retaining support for DirectX 10.
