MSi VN240GT-MD1G
$130.00
Released November, 2009
The Pros:CUDA support even for an entry level product. Good selection of video outputs (HDMI, DVI, VGA). Excellent price to performance ratio.
The Cons:MSI's rebate system is less than perfect. No heatsink on the ram modules.
The MSi VN240GT-MD1G is a mid-grade video card for gamers and home theater enthusiasts. The processor is reasonably fast, there's plenty of memory, and full HDCP support means that Blu-ray will stream smoothly with 7.1 surround sound support.

It does have a physical fan, which prevents this card from running completely silently.
The processor is a 550MHz NVidia GeForce 240, which is supported by 1GB of DDR3 memory. The memory is clocked at 1580MHz and uses a 128-bit interface with the processor. The card needs a PCI-E 2.0 slot, and has outputs for VGA, DVI-I, and HDMI. A 2560x1600 resolution is supported, although some decrease in performance should be expected at top resolutions. Both DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 3.1 are supported.
