MSi N240GT-MD512 OC/D5
$130.00
Released February, 2010
The Pros:Low power requirement, don't generally have to upgrade the power supply to run it. Enough processing power to manage most modern games smoothly. Smaller profile will fit into smaller cases.
The Cons:No fan speed control, has a tendency to run at full speed all the time. Fan can be very loud and distracting. Not capable of running more modern games at high settings, need to turn the quality down.
The MSi N240GT-MD512 OC/D5 is a mid-grade video card for gamers and home theater enthusiasts. The processor is reasonably fast, and while there is a decrease in the amount of memory compared to the VN240GT-MD1G, the memory works faster in this model.

There is also the option to easily overclock this card, making it run faster than it does by default while generating more heat and using more power.
The processor is a 550MHz NVidia GeForce 240, which is supported by 512MB of DDR5 memory. The memory runs at 3600MHz with a 128-bit data transfer. The card uses a PCI-E 2.0 slot, and has outputs for VGA, DVI-I, and HDMI. A 2560x1600 resolution is supported, although some decrease in performance should be expected at top resolutions. Both DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 3.1 are supported. This card has HDCP support, and will play Blu-ray video smoothly.
