ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870

Released January, 2010

Product Shot 1The ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 is AMD's top-of-the-line DirectX 11 notebook graphics card. It features, like the other two HD 5800-series models, 1.04 billion 40nm transistors and 800 stream processors, but the HD 5870 utilizes solely a GDDR5 interface, as opposed to the HD 5830 and 5850, which support (G)DDR3, limiting their clock speed and processing power.

Other features are shared between the three models, including advanced anti-aliasing and ATI Eyefinity technology, which enables multi-display configurations with up to six panels. ATI Stream uses parallel processing to accelerate video handling, while ATI CrossFireX (the main feature unavailable in the HD 5700 Series) enables scalable performance with two GPUs.
